Shakaya Filmore

I come from communities like Tangelo Park, Mercy Drive, and Parramore, where people learn early what it means to be strong, to have faith, and to work for everything they have.

My roots run deep in Apopka and Eatonville, where serving others is not something people talk about, but something they live out every day.

I was raised around police officers, nurses, teachers, pastors, and business leaders, and that environment shaped my belief that we are called to do what we can, while we can, to serve others.

​

My journey has not been easy or perfect.

I have had to rebuild my life by fighting to restore my civil rights, earning my diploma, and creating stability for my family, all while living with sickle cell.

Through it all, I persevered.

I became a mother, a homeowner, and a businesswoman. I built stability when it was not given to me, and I created opportunities where none existed. I also learned how to navigate systems that too often work against the very people they are meant to serve.

​

Those experiences did not break me. They prepared me.

I believe that leadership is not about titles, but about accountability.

It is about showing up, making informed decisions, and delivering real, measurable results.

I am running to bring leadership that is present, accountable, and focused on outcomes, so that our communities are no longer overlooked, but truly prioritized.
